Our Lyra Fly classes are here! Want to elevate your fitness?
Aerial arts has moved from circus acts into fitness routines using an aerial hoop (known as the Lyra), which is a circular steel or aluminum apparatus (resembling a hula hoop) suspended from the ceiling using specialized ropes or rigging straps, and a combination of carabiners and swivels.
The basic idea of the Lyra is to pull yourself up into the aerial hoop, then move your body around the hoop to create beautiful, elegant, and often strength-demanding positions. The Lyra can be mounted to be static, spin, or swing. The more movement the Lyra provides, the more difficult, but graceful, the poses and transitions.
Lyra lets you leave the gym weights behind! The best weight to lift is your own body weight.
Classes will be available to all fitness levels and no prior experience is required. Students receive individualized instruction tailored to their comfort, skill, strength, and experience level. Each subsequent class builds on a student’s skills and interest, incorporating more challenging poses, transitions, and sequencing as skill and strength develop. Full 70 minute class.
What to Bring: a yoga mat, a water bottle, and an open mind! If you forget your yoga mat, we sell new ones for $25.
What to Wear: **Please wear clothing that covers the backs of the knees and torso for all classes. This will help avoid burns caused by friction with the silks or lyra.
